English Premier League model for Süper Lig and 1. Lig broadcasting tender

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) plans to adopt the English Premier League model for the live broadcasting tender of Süper Lig and 1. Lig matches. The TFF is considering implementing this model to increase the viewership of matches and enhance the brand value of football. Accordingly, it is envisioned that certain matches will not be broadcast live in order to increase the viewership of clubs struggling with attendance in the stands.

According to a report by Milliyet, the broadcaster will conduct an evaluation based on viewership ratings and decide which matches to broadcast based on this data. However, all matches will still be recorded due to the VAR system. The institution that wins the tender will be able to offer these matches to clubs, local channels, or other platforms for a fee when necessary, with the goal of increasing revenue to 150 million dollars.

The decision on unlimited foreign players, which the TFF announced recently, was approved by all the clubs. It is stated that this decision, based on the Clubs Association's request that there be "no plus on the field," emerged as a result of meetings held with TFF officials.

Additionally, the semi-automated offside system will begin to be used in the Süper Lig starting today. This system, which will be implemented in Turkey for the first time after Italy, will transmit images of the players to the VAR Center via cameras in the stadiums and present them to those watching the match with 3D animations.
