Championship remarks from Erden Timur: 'My heart won't take it'

Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman Erden Timur made statements at the Florya Metin Oktay Facilities before the day's training session.

Here are Erden Timur's statements: 

"We are in the final stretch of the championship. We have come a long way and now we are at the final turn. Since there is nothing mathematical yet, the month of May is also very important for us. We need to maintain our concentration until the very end. Nothing is finished yet. We will try to finish this job until the end."

''WE ARE STRIVING FOR THE FOCUS TO BE ON THE PITCH''

"We are striving for the championship to be the focus on the pitch. I do not want to take part in any aspect of Galatasaray politics. That is why I did not take a seat on the board. But I am trying to contribute wherever I can. Regarding the Florya issue... I think it is being talked about because it is one of the issues that the Galatasaray community cares about the most. Three years ago, I took the initiative to conduct detailed studies to evaluate all of Galatasaray's assets. The acquisition of Mecidiyeköy and the Florya land... One-third of this place was ours, and we also acquired the other two-thirds. Everyone is evaluating it with numbers. If you do the construction yourself, you make more profit. If someone else does it, you make less profit. Everything will be explained at the general assembly after the election. My personal opinion is that we should do it ourselves. These are two different methods."

''A LOT OF THINGS ARE BEING WRITTEN TO DISCREDIT ME''

"President Dursun and I definitely think differently about the Florya issue. This is not the reason why I am not on the board. On one hand, a lot of things are being done to discredit me. During the election process and afterwards, we said that this place should be built, but that we would not be involved in any part of it. Let us not be involved anyway. When you have the construction done, you need a contracting firm. I find the word 'handout' extremely wrong."

THE DEPLETION OF SEASON TICKETS

"Our main agenda is the championship. We have all switched to championship mode. Hopefully, we will reach the result. We are aware that our stadium capacity is not enough. As long as this success continues, starting with our coach Okan, our president Dursun, and our players who sweat on the pitch... this stadium capacity will not be enough for us."

"The championship of our Women's Football team is very important. There is great effort involved. I wish we could guarantee our championship early. We will not make celebration plans before we are champions."

CHAMPIONSHIP REMARKS

"If it stays until the last match, my heart won't take it. Hopefully, we will declare our 2nd consecutive championship. Mertens is showing a tremendous performance. We are talking to the civil registry offices in Belgium; this performance at this age... Mertens wants to stay in Istanbul. It is a subject where we are very lucky. Thank God we have such a beautiful atmosphere... It will be concluded in the coming days."
