French representative JL Bourg, which reached victory in the 2026 BKT EuroCup by winning both matches against Beşiktaş GAİN, has waived its spot in the EuroLeague. The club management announced that they will remain outside the top tier of European basketball for the 2026-2027 season, citing costs and organizational challenges.
In the statement, it was noted that JL Bourg will compete in the BKT EuroCup for at least three more years, with a contract covering the next three seasons plus two option years. Although the French team earned the right to promote to the EuroLeague with its EuroCup championship, it has voluntarily relinquished this opportunity.
This decision by JL Bourg, which concluded last season with an unforgettable championship and had the opportunity to write its name among the giants of European basketball, has caused surprise in the sports community.
