Facing off after six years: A historic election at Fenerbahçe

Fenerbahçe Sports Club congress members are heading to the polls today for the presidential election. The voting process, which will see Ali Koç and Aziz Yıldırım compete, began at 10:00 AM. Fans arriving at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium to cast their votes formed long queues. In addition to players, politicians also attended the historic congress. At the historic elective ordinary general assembly ofFenerbahçe Sports Club, current president Ali Koç and former president Aziz Yıldırım will compete.

Vefa Küçük is presiding over The financial general assembly was held on the first day of the congress organized atFenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

Aziz Yıldırım had left the stadium in protest of the election of the General Assembly Council President. Yıldırım later faced off against Ali Koç on Habertürk TV in the evening.

In Fenerbahçe's historic election, 46,410 members who have paid their dues are eligible to vote.

BALLOT COLORS DETERMINED

The colors of the ballots for presidential candidates Ali Koç and Aziz Yıldırım were determined ahead of today's election. Ali Koç's ballots will be yellow, while Aziz Yıldırım's will be white. The presidential election at the congress will be held across a total of 47 ballot boxes today. Voting will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM.

Congress members who arrived at the stadium early to vote in the Fenerbahçe ordinary elective general assembly

formed long queues in front of the stadium.

Presidential candidate Aziz Yıldırım and incumbent president Ali Koç also arrived at the stadium to cast their votes.

Famous actor Sarp Akkaya was among those who cast their votes at the Fenerbahçe congress.

One of those who cast a vote in the election to determine the new management of the Yellow-Navy club was Muharrem İnce, Chairman of the Homeland Party (Memleket Partisi). 

İnce stated, "I have cast my vote for the presidential election of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, of which I am a congress member. I wish for the results to be beneficial to the Fenerbahçe community from now." he said. 

İYİ Party MP Kürşad Zorlu cast his vote at the Fenerbahçe Elective Ordinary General Assembly.

STATEMENT FROM SADETTİN SARAN

Sadettin Saran, who had previously announced his candidacy for the presidency but withdrew after current president Ali Koç decided to run, also cast his vote at the congress. Making a brief statement, Saran said, ''I withdrew my candidacy because everything is for Fenerbahçe'' he said.

 

 

Aykut Kocaman, who served as the head coach of the football A-team between 2010-2013 and during the 2017-2018 season, also arrived at the venue to cast his vote.

After taking photos with the Yellow-Navy congress members, Kocaman entered the voting booth to cast his ballot.

RECORD BROKEN AT THE HISTORIC CONGRESS

As of 3:00 PM at the Fenerbahçe ordinary elective general assembly, the 22,000-vote threshold was surpassed, setting a new record. The previous voting record at Fenerbahçe was set in 2018 with 21,350 votes.
