Konyaspor manager Fahrudin Ömerovic made evaluations at the press conference held at Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium after his team's 2-0 defeat to Alanyaspor, whom they hosted in the 33rd week of the Süper Lig.
Congratulating Alanyaspor, Ömerovic said, "We are truly sad; we did not expect this result. The team already experienced a shock before the match. Jakub Slowik fell ill. Then, Oğulcan getting injured and breaking his nose in the 5th minute suddenly created a major shock effect."
Ömerovic stated that they could not play the game they wanted in the first half and that Alanyaspor managed to keep them away from the goal with correct positioning and accurate passing.
Expressing that they expected to finish the first half at 0-0, Ömerovic continued, "We could have made a different move in the second half. But while it was still 0-0, we experienced a third shock in the 46th minute. In the second half, we made a move with a more pressing game and passing towards the goal. We achieved this relatively well. While we were 1-0 down in the match, we found a few positions that could have been goals, but unfortunately, we couldn't score them. We conceded the second goal in stoppage time. Alanyaspor played better than us today. I think they deserved the victory."
"REACTING WHILE THE MATCH IS BEING PLAYED DOES NOT BENEFIT US"
Konyaspor President Ömer Korkmaz, who made statements after the match, also said that they suffered an unexpected defeat and were saddened by this score.
Addressing the Konyaspor fans, Korkmaz said, "As the management, we are trying to do our best. We will achieve success with our fans. They are our brothers. While we took office during a difficult process, they also need to support us. A player may play well or poorly. Reacting while the match is being played does not benefit us," he said.
Korkmaz stated that he did not find it right for the fans to applaud the opposing team's second goal and that what the team needs is support.
