Fast start to Galatasaray-Villarreal match: Okan Buruk shown red card, transfer protests rise from the stands

Galatasaray faced LaLiga representative Villarreal at RAMS Park as part of their new season preparations. The opening minutes of the match were eventful, marked by on-field decisions and reactions from the stands.

The yellow-red fans expressed their frustration with president Dursun Özbek regarding transfers before and at the start of the match. While chants of "Dursun Özbek, where are the transfers?" were heard in the stands, it was noted that there were fewer than 20 thousand spectators in the stadium.

Villarreal won a penalty in the 2nd minute of the match. Following a challenge by the Galatasaray defense, referee Kadir Sağlam pointed to the penalty spot. Ayoze Perez, who stepped up to the ball, put the Spanish side ahead 1-0 with his shot in the 3rd minute.

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, who protested the penalty decision, was shown a yellow card in the 4th minute. Continuing his protests, Buruk was penalized with a second yellow card shortly after and was sent off with a red card.

Galatasaray responded to the early goal quickly. In the 5th minute, Victor Osimhen, who followed a cross into the penalty area at the back post, sent the ball into the net with a header, bringing the score to 1-1.
