In the 6th week of the Trendyol Super Lig, Trabzonspor drew 1-1 at home against Gaziantep FK. Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke made statements at the press conference held after the match.
Stating that his team displayed one of the worst performances of the last 6 months, Tekke said, "It was one of the worst games of the last 6 months. Despite everything, we could have won.
But what I didn't like was the chaos in the final stages. Everything needed to be clear for us; that is how we work. The desire and ambition from last week were not present in this match. Everything we didn't want to happen, happened. This was even more upsetting than losing 2 points. We have not yet gained the values we thought we had; this became very clear this week," he said.
"THERE WAS AN IMAGE ON THE PITCH UNWORTHY OF TRABZONSPOR"
Touching on his players' performance, Tekke said, "Some players were very good; Savic was one of them. But when we step outside our game plan, we encounter chaos. There was a world of difference between last week and this week. Today, there was an image on the pitch that was unworthy of Trabzonspor. The opponent did not dominate us, but this game was not worthy of us. I and my team are responsible for this. We did not put on a performance today that warrants talking about the referee. What we need to talk about is how we created this chaos. If Trabzonspor cannot control the game on this pitch, where will it? Of course, I am responsible for this," he stated.
Addressing the status of some players, Tekke added, "Batohov has a groin problem. Oulai is a young and talented player; he needs time. If he finds his rhythm, Trabzonspor could gain a very different player. His English is weak; he is taking language lessons. I want to give him playing time," he said.
"WE HAVE TO DRAW OUR FANS TO THE STADIUM"
Emphasizing that they expect more support from the fans, Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke said, "I waited a long time for our fans this evening. We needed the wind at our backs, but those who didn't come due to the cold might perhaps be seen as justified. However, Trabzonspor must be on the pitch with its values. We are going through a very difficult process; we have experienced referee decisions, injuries, and transfer problems. Despite this, we are trying to recover. We need more support. We have to draw our fans to the stadium. But this kind of game does not draw fans to the stadium; that is very clear and obvious," he concluded.
