Fatih Terim published a farewell message for manager Mircea Lucescu, who passed away yesterday. In his post, Terim expressed the following:

'It is not easy at all to write these lines. But as two football people who have spent almost their entire lives with that unique scent of grass, between or beyond the lines on the green pitch, and under great responsibilities that not everyone is granted, this story needs to be completed without remaining silent. In the half-century that has passed, people have changed, eras have changed, football has changed, the world has changed. But your passion for football never diminished. We became different sentences of the same story. The same joys, sorrows, storms, disappointments... We won, we lost, we were criticized, we were congratulated, we were understood, and sometimes we were not understood at all. I think the thing that brought us closest to each other was the loyalty we felt for the game.'

'Perhaps fate brought you to Istanbul, which you loved so much, for this reason one last time. This is a farewell letter with respect sown at its foundation. You gave football its due until the very end. You gave so much to this game, not just to Romania or Turkey. And I know; wherever you are, you will not take your eyes off football.
