Fencer Doruk Erolçevik wins bronze at European Cadet Championships

Competing in the European Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships, Doruk Erolçevik won a bronze medal in the cadet men's épée category.

According to the statement from the Turkish Fencing Federation, Doruk, who received a bye in the first round of the event held in Naples, Italy, advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Hungarian Mate Balint Antal 15-10, Greek Nikolaos Passias 15-9, and Frenchman Noam Duchene 15-11.

After defeating another French athlete, Niklas Astrella, with a score of 15-6 to reach the semifinals, Doruk lost his match against Great Britain's Sameer Rajan Sunder 14-12 and took home the bronze medal.

With this achievement, Doruk secured the first-ever medal for Turkey in the épée category at the European Fencing Championships.
