Fenerbahçe Beko wins the EuroLeague derby

In the Turkish derby of the 6th week of the EuroLeague, Fenerbahçe Beko defeated Anadolu Efes 79-69 on the road.

With this result, the yellow-navy blues secured their 3rd victory. The navy-whites, on the other hand, left the court defeated for the 4th time.

Starting the match with an 8-0 run, Anadolu Efes finished the 5th minute leading 13-8, despite having trouble defending the paint, thanks to their accuracy from outside. While Fenerbahçe Beko did not allow their opponent to find easy points from under the basket, the navy-whites played with 5-of-8 shooting from behind the three-point line. Anadolu Efes finished the first quarter ahead 24-18.

The second period saw a balanced game. In the first part of this quarter, which featured baskets from both sides, a 28-28 tie was reached. As the tempo increased in the second half of the period, both teams scored from the paint. Fenerbahçe Beko took the lead for the first time in the match with 30 seconds left in the first half thanks to a three-pointer by Wilbekin: 43-44. The yellow-navy team headed to the locker room leading the derby 44-43.

Defenses came to the fore in the third quarter. In the derby, where the lead changed hands many times, the final period was entered with a 58-58 tie.

Fenerbahçe Beko started the final quarter with three-pointers from Colson and Wilbekin, establishing a 6-point lead (58-64). While both teams made consecutive turnovers in the middle of the period, the yellow-navy blues extended the lead to 7 points in the 35th minute with an outside shot from Wilbekin: 62-69. Anadolu Efes, returning empty-handed from consecutive possessions, could not close the gap in the remaining time. Fenerbahçe Beko won the match 79-69.
