Fenerbahçe faced an unexpected obstacle in the N'Golo Kante transfer, which has been a major topic for weeks, just as it reached the final stages. The yellow-navy club and Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad had reached an agreement in principle for the swap of the star footballer and Youssef En-Nesyri. During the negotiations, a fee of 4.5 million Euros was set for Kante's transfer, while Fenerbahçe expected 18 million Euros in revenue for En-Nesyri.
However, despite reaching a consensus between the two sides, problems arose regarding critical details. The failure to upload the documents to the relevant system on time prevented the transfer from being completed. The delay in paperwork, occurring with very little time left before the transfer window closed, caused this major swap to fall through.
Fenerbahçe club sought a solution due to the setback and requested the necessary time extension from the Saudi Pro League. However, as this request was not met with a positive response, both N'Golo Kante's journey to Istanbul and En-Nesyri's hope of moving to Al-Ittihad for a fresh start have been postponed to another period. Thus, both players will continue to remain with their current teams.
The fact that bureaucratic procedures, frequently encountered in the intense traffic of the transfer window, hindered a strategic move by an ambitious club like Fenerbahçe has caused disappointment among the fans. Whether the clubs will sit down at the table again in the future is already a subject of curiosity.
