After reviewing the file following the match, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee ruled that Balogun had violated Articles 14 and 66 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and decided to impose a one-match suspension on the player.
SUSPENSION HELD UNDER A ONE-YEAR PROBATIONARY PERIOD
According to the disciplinary decision published by FIFA, the one-match suspension given to Balogun was suspended under a one-year probationary period in accordance with Article 27 of the Disciplinary Code.
The decision stated that if the player commits a new disciplinary violation of a similar nature within this period, the suspended sentence will come into effect and be added to any new sanctions imposed.
ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THE BELGIUM MATCH
In line with the decision, Folarin Balogun will be able to take his place in the team for the USA's Round of 16 match against Belgium.
The match, which will be played at Lumen Field in Seattle, will begin at 03:00 Turkish time. Due to the suspended sentence, the U.S. national team will be able to take the field with one of its key attacking players.
