First statement from Hasan Arat following the attack

Hasan Arat, who was subjected to a physical assault by Tevfik Yamantürk during his speech at the Beşiktaş Divan Board Meeting, made statements following the incident.

Arat stated the following:

"These are very painful things for Beşiktaş. As a former president, I have not spoken anywhere else. I said I would speak here in a civilized environment. They cannot tolerate it. Do you know why? This is a Divan Board chair who once told brother Süleyman, 'I'll pay his money, let him go to Fener.' They cannot stand it. History will judge them."

"I am saddened on behalf of our community by what has happened, but personally, I am happy that I came here today. What happened here today has also saddened Beşiktaş fans and my family. Let them not worry at all, the Eagle fears nothing. I will not give up on this cause. I will continue my life in the same way."

"This level of civility will not take Beşiktaş anywhere. They will do the same thing to Serdal Adalı tomorrow. I told Adalı today; I said if you remain silent about what was done to me today, the same will be done to you tomorrow. This should not be met with silence; the community needs to see the truth."

"These slanders are a game. Come forward with a single document. You say you will chase me away? You aren't tall enough to chase me! But they consider attacking with their bodyguards a skill."

"They will pay the price for this before the law, and Tevfik Yamantürk must resign from the Divan presidency immediately. A Divan Board chair who brings Beşiktaş to this state does not suit Beşiktaş. You cannot act high and mighty here with your money and wealth."
