Faruk Koca, the former president who punched referee Halil Umut Meler during the Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, said, "The form of the action may not be right, but this community and football history will not accept such a harsh penalty being given."
The MKE Ankaragücü management met with Ankaragücü fans for iftar at the New 19 Mayıs Stadium, which is currently under construction in Altındağ. Addressing the fans before the iftar program, former Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca recalled the penalty given to him by the Turkish Football Federation and said, "My presidency was banned for life and I was banned from entering the stadium. This is their shame. The form of the action may not be right, but this community and football history will not accept such a harsh penalty being given. It will remember this as a black mark. You can ban us in practice, but you cannot take away the passion for serving Ankaragücü from our hearts," he said.
