France advances to the Round of 16 with a 3-goal victory

France pressured the Swedish defense with fast attacks, particularly developed from the wings.

Didier Deschamps' team, which settled into the opponent's penalty area with the mobility of Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele, had to wait until the final moments of the first half for a goal despite creating numerous opportunities throughout the half.

MBAPPE OPENS THE SCORING

France's long-awaited goal came in the 45th minute. Meeting the ball from an Ousmane Dembele pass, Kylian Mbappe beat the goalkeeper with his strike to put his team ahead: 1-0.

The goal, coming in the final moments of the first half, also disrupted Sweden's defensive plan. France went into the locker room with a one-goal lead and started the second half with pressure as well.

BARCOLA DOUBLES THE LEAD

Settling back into the opponent's half as the second half began, France doubled the lead in the 53rd minute.

Bradley Barcola, who moved behind the defense following a pass from Michael Olise, sent the ball into the net with a clean strike: 2-0.

After the goal, France completely controlled the tempo of the game and met Sweden's attacking attempts in midfield. The substitutions made by Graham Potter were not enough to increase Sweden's attacking productivity.

MBAPPE ON STAGE ONCE AGAIN

The goal that determined the outcome of the match came in the 74th minute. Michael Olise, who caused great trouble for the Swedish defense throughout the match, provided his second assist. Meeting the ball from Olise's pass, Mbappe recorded his second and his team's third goal: 3-0.

Following the score, France head coach Didier Deschamps rested his squad by taking off Mbappe, Olise, Dembele, Jules Kounde, and Lucas Digne. Jean-Philippe Mateta, Rayan Cherki, Desire Doue, Malo Gusto, and Theo Hernandez played in the remaining minutes.

With no further goals in the final minutes, France left the match with a 3-0 victory and ended Sweden's World Cup journey.

ONE-SIDED DOMINANCE FROM FRANCE

France finished the match with 24 shots and 12 shots on target. Sweden, on the other hand, could only manage 4 shots throughout the match, with only one of them finding the target.

While the French played with 469 successful passes and an 88 percent pass accuracy, Sweden remained at 214 successful passes. France, which also established a 9-1 superiority in corners, dominated its opponent in almost every part of the game.

OPPONENT IN THE ROUND OF 16 IS PARAGUAY

Having advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating Sweden by a wide margin, France will face Paraguay in the next stage, who knocked Germany out of the tournament following a penalty shootout.
