Following the victory of the National Rally (RN), described as the far-right, in the European Parliament (EP) elections, French President Emmanuel Macron dissolved parliament on June 9 and called for snap general elections.

Kylian Mbappe, the world-famous star of France, one of the ambitious teams of EURO 2024, gave striking messages at the press conference held before the Austria match.

Mbappe expressed that he is "against extremes and divisive ideas."

The star footballer interpreted the elections as a critical turning point in French history.

Mbappe urged young people to go to the polls and not to vote for the far-right.

"EXTREMES ARE AT THE GATES OF POWER"

Pointing out that France has entered a critical threshold, Mbappe said, “I think we are at a very important moment in the history of our country. That is why I want to address all the French people and especially the young generation. I think we are a generation that can make a difference. We see very clearly that the extremes are at the gates of power and we have the opportunity to choose the future of our country. That is why I call on all young people to vote and to realize the importance of the situation; I hope my voice reaches as many people as possible. We need to identify with this country, with our values of tolerance, diversity, and respect. I trust the French, every vote counts. I really hope that we will make the right choice and that we will be proud to wear this jersey on July 7.”
