Galatasaray abandons Guela Doue transfer

Galatasaray Board Member İbrahim Hatipoğlu provided information about Galatasaray's transfer efforts on the club's television channel.

Explaining that the transfer process for Guela Doue was initially going as planned, Hatipoğlu said, "We reached an agreement with Rennes, and we still have a valid agreement. They were in close cooperation with us during the process, and we thank them. People close to the player made the process difficult with different demands every day. This is Galatasaray. Because these points were pushed, this transfer dragged on. Doue was one of the important players on our list. At this point, Galatasaray has reached the stage of ending negotiations with this player. Doue is no longer on our transfer list. As of today, Doue has clearly been removed from Galatasaray's agenda for the first time," he stated.

Stating that they are still interested in Wendel, who plays for Zenit, Hatipoğlu continued:

"Wendel is one of the very important players in his position. He is a player we are working to add to our squad. He is warm to the idea of coming to Galatasaray, but the club he plays for does not want to let go of its best player, and we are persistent here. There is no negative situation in the process. It is not easy to transfer such good players if their teams do not want to let them go. We believe we will successfully complete this difficult process."

Emphasizing that they have many names on their list, Hatipoğlu said, "In the background, we are carrying out these processes simultaneously with other players. We believe that in the near future, we will bring players worthy of Galatasaray for both the right-back and midfield positions. Our work is continuing efficiently. We want our fans to support us. We ask them to support us with a little more patience so that our club does not suffer from this misinformation. Starting from today, we are working to finalize these transfers as soon as possible."

Explaining that there is a lot of misinformation in the transfer process, Hatipoğlu stated the following:

"We respect all criticism; this is Galatasaray. It is a place where criticism is a culture and we are open to every constructive criticism. We are following these criticisms closely. The fact that the names of these transfers are being discussed also bothers us, and we want to eliminate this. You have to go places to conduct transfer negotiations. It is not very likely that you can just pick up players of this level and come back. We go places and come back, and an atmosphere is created as if we are leaking these ourselves, but we are the ones who suffer the most from this. It is impossible for us to ever look favorably upon any activity aimed at leaking this information. We are making an effort to conduct these in the most confidential way on behalf of Galatasaray. FANS ARE RIGHT TO CRITICIZE

Expressing that they do not want to mention names in the future process, İbrahim Hatipoğlu said, "Galatasaray is a popular club. It has a strong network on social media, and every topic becomes news. We respect that very much. Every step Galatasaray takes attracts attention, but this needs to be cleared of news that causes harm. Perhaps we also made mistakes in the past in this sense. We will review these and continue with more confidential transfer negotiations in the future process, as there are names currently not being mentioned that we have made progress with."

Requesting that news outside of the official website not be relied upon regarding transfers, Hatipoğlu noted:

"Our fans are right to criticize us; we had set a goal to complete them by the camp period. Due to the difficulties in transfers, we are continuing this goal with a delay. Our only goal is to determine the right players under the right conditions for Galatasaray without making mistakes. We do not have a massive transfer situation. We are working on 2 positions, and there are important names identified by our coach. These are also players whose teams do not want to give up easily.
