Galatasaray defeated by Fortuna Düsseldorf in friendly match

Galatasaray lost 5-2 to German side Fortuna Düsseldorf in their second friendly match of their Austria training camp.

Continuing their preparations for the new season in Austria, Galatasaray faced Bundesliga 2 side Fortuna Düsseldorf in their second friendly match.

In the 22nd minute of the match played at Raiffeisen Arena, Fortuna Düsseldorf took a 1-0 lead with a long-range goal from outside the penalty area by Emmanuel Iyoha. The German team extended the lead to 2 in the 25th minute with a goal from Jona Niemiec.

The yellow-reds brought the score to 2-1 in the 35th minute with a goal from inside the penalty area by Kerem Demirbay. The first half ended with a 2-1 lead for Fortuna Düsseldorf. In the 60th minute, Dries Mertens met a pass from Lucas Torreira and sent the ball into the net with a stylish shot from inside the penalty area, leveling the score at 2-2.

In the 64th minute, Fortuna Düsseldorf took the lead again with a goal from Danny Schmidt. The German team brought the score to 5-2 with goals from Matthias Zimmermann in the 73rd minute and Karim Affo in the 83rd minute. As there were no more goals in the remaining time, Fortuna Düsseldorf left the pitch with a 5-2 victory.

The yellow-reds had been defeated 3-2 by LASK Linz in their first friendly match in Austria.

Galatasaray will continue their training in the Geinberg region of Austria until July 18.
