Losing 1-0 to French representative Monaco in their sixth match, the yellow-reds drew 1-1 with Spanish side Atletico Madrid at home in the 7th week. In their last match, Galatasaray visited English giants Manchester City and left the pitch with a 2-0 defeat.

Finishing the league phase of the competition in 20th place with 10 points, Galatasaray was paired with Italy's Juventus in the knockout round play-offs.
