Galatasaray overcomes Göztepe with 2 goals

In the 18th week of the Süper Lig, Galatasaray hosted Göztepe at home.

Galatasaray won a penalty in the 9th minute of the match played at Rams Park. After Djalma's challenge on Kaan Ayhan, the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Victor Osimhen, who stepped up to take the penalty, sent the ball into the net.

Göztepe's response to this goal came in the 27th minute. Romulo, who slipped behind the defense following a pass from Anthony Dennis, made the score 1-1 with his shot.

The first half of the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Galatasaray took the lead once again in the 61st minute. Yunus Akgün, who met the ball inside the penalty area following a pass from Dries Mertens, sent the ball into the net, bringing the score to 2-1.

Galatasaray's goal scored by Lucas Torreira in the 80th minute was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

Although Göztepe pressed for an equalizer in the remainder of the match, the home team managed to maintain their lead, leaving the pitch with a 2-1 victory and extending their winning streak in the league to 4 matches.

Securing their 4th consecutive victory in the league, Galatasaray reached 47 points and increased the point gap with their closest follower, Fenerbahçe, to 11 points with a game in hand. Göztepe, whose 3-match unbeaten streak came to an end, remained in 5th place with 28 points.

Galatasaray will face Başakşehir away in the 19th week of the league, while Göztepe will host Kasımpaşa at home.
