Warning from Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek ahead of the Fenerbahçe derby

In a statement on the yellow-red club's website, Dursun Özbek said, "Dear Galatasaray fans, this evening we will open a new page in our century-old eternal rivalry as we host Fenerbahçe on our home turf. As Galatasaray Sports Club, we wish for a derby where, as always, sportsmanship and fair play are at the forefront, and where only sports are discussed."

Noting that they also see the danger posed by the atmosphere of chaos and turmoil that Turkish football is being dragged into recently, Özbek stated, "The hostile attitude adopted by certain circles against Galatasaray, along with their actions and rhetoric that heighten tensions, reveals an intention to drag us down a dangerous path that could even lead to pitting brother against brother. No member of the Galatasaray Sports Club or the millions of fans who are devoted to it will be a passenger on this path. Preserving the unity and integrity of our country and protecting social peace is always our primary priority."

"My request to all our fans coming to the match is to focus only on our team without responding to any provocations. We will not throw foreign objects onto the pitch, and we will support our Galatasaray without stopping until the very last second."
