Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman Abdullah Kavukcu made statements regarding the yellow-red club's transfer agenda. Speaking after the friendly match against Rennes at RAMS Park, which ended in a 3-3 draw, Kavukcu stated that transfer efforts are continuing in a planned manner and asked for patience from the fans.
Stating that they understand the fans' reaction to transfers, Kavukcu said, "We are fans too. I accept our fans' reaction today with respect." Emphasizing that Galatasaray has added important players to its squad in the past through the club's strength, Kavukcu expressed that the management is acting in coordination with the technical staff, the presidency, and the scouting team.
TRANSFER PLAN AND THE 10+4 DEBATE
Reminding that the deadline for submitting the squad for the UEFA Champions League is September 2, Kavukcu said that this date should not be viewed as the final day. Stating, "We will make very good transfers worthy of Galatasaray," Kavukcu noted that the team has been champions for the last four seasons and that the current group of players should also be supported.
Kavukcu argued that his previous statement regarding a 500 million euro budget was misinterpreted. Stating that the budget and UEFA limits should be evaluated separately, the executive said that Galatasaray is taking transfer steps while observing financial criteria.
Criticizing the Turkish Football Federation's 10+4 foreign player rule, Kavukcu claimed that the decision is harming Turkish football. Noting that they are encountering high transfer fees in the foreign player market, Kavukcu said that for this reason, Galatasaray is also using loan and purchase-option models after certain conditions are met.
Kavukcu stated that the club has both the money and the limit for transfers, assessing, "We are currently the club with the most comfortable limit in Turkey." Noting that they act by protecting the club's future and financial balance in transfers, Kavukcu recorded that negotiations are ongoing and that there are alternative player lists for every position.
Speaking about Barış Alper Yılmaz, Kavukcu announced that no official offer has reached the club for the national footballer yet. Kavukcu said, "We received an offer for Barış last year, but we didn't sell. This year, because of the 10+4 rule, we won't sell Barış for the rumored figures." He stated that if an offer were to arrive, the matter would be evaluated together with the president and the technical staff.
Kavukcu also said that there is interest in players such as Victor Osimhen, Wilfried Singo, and Davinson Sanchez. Conveying that offers for Singo have been received from two clubs, Kavukcu expressed that the player wants to stay at Galatasaray.
Speaking about Mauro Icardi, Kavukcu described the Argentine footballer as "one of Galatasaray's icons." Stating that the club offered a farewell organization to Icardi but has not yet received a response, Kavukcu said, "Our door is always open to Icardi."
