With 2 weeks left in the Süper Lig and a 6-point lead over its closest rival, Galatasaray has made a notable move regarding a trophy.

According to a report by Hürriyet Newspaper; Galatasaray wants to crown its celebration with a trophy if it secures the championship against its arch-rival on Sunday.

However, according to the Süper Lig Competition Statutes, since the yellow-reds have not yet mathematically guaranteed the championship, they will not be able to lift the trophy even if they achieve the desired result in the Fenerbahçe match.

Nevertheless, Cimbom will apply to the Turkish Football Federation to have the Turkcell Super Cup, which Fenerbahçe won by default after their opponent did not take the field, and the championship trophy of the Galatasaray Women's Football Team, which finished the season at the top of the Turkcell Women's Football Super League, brought to the derby.

WHAT DOES THE SÜPER LİG COMPETITION STATUTES SAY? WHAT IS ARTICLE 11?

“(1) As a rule, the championship trophy is presented by the TFF to the club that finishes the Süper Lig competitions in first place at the end of the club's final league match. In the event that the club finishing the Süper Lig competitions in first place is determined mathematically earlier based on the current points standings, the championship trophy is presented by the TFF to the relevant club at the end of the final league match it plays as the home team."
