Galatasaray did not include Barış Alper Yılmaz in the squad for the Kayserispor match. It had been alleged that the national footballer had been excluded from the squad.
Galatasaray denied the claims that he was indefinitely excluded from the squad.
The statement, published under the signature of Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman Abdullah Kavukçu, included the following expressions:
"Barış Alper Yılmaz, who is conducting transfer negotiations at Galatasaray, will not be taken to the Kayserispor away match. Lemina is also not expected to be in the squad due to his pains. The news that appeared today on a YouTube channel's X account claiming that 'Barış Alper Yılmaz has been indefinitely excluded from the squad' is completely baseless. Such news harms both our player and our club, and it is impossible to understand with what motivation it was served.
Barış Alper Yılmaz is a tremendous asset for Galatasaray with his sense of belonging and his ambition on the pitch. The reason he is not in the squad for the Kayserispor match is a joint decision by our technical staff and management, intended to ensure that the current process does not place an additional burden on him. This decision is entirely for the purpose of protecting our player, and there is absolutely no situation such as him being excluded from the squad.
In this period when false information spreads rapidly, we believe that valuable members of the press will show the necessary sensitivity in order to inform the public correctly."
WHAT HAPPENED?
It had been claimed that the Saudi Arabian team NEOM was in talks with Barış Alper Yılmaz and had offered him 7 times his current salary.
It was also alleged that the Saudi club's offer to Galatasaray reached 30 million euros, but that the yellow-red club opened the door at 50 million euros and that no results came from the first meeting.
Following this development, it was alleged that Galatasaray had issued a formal warning to NEOM for attempting to turn the player's head without the club's permission.
It was also claimed that Barış Alper had told the Galatasaray management, "Let me go, I won't find an offer like this again."
President Dursun Özbek announced that they would not allow the footballer's transfer.
The footballer's agent, on the other hand, used the expressions, "The club management had promised Barış for this summer, 'If an offer comes, we will not block your path, you can go wherever you wish.'"
