The Turkish Football Federation announced that 7 of the 152 referees found to have engaged in betting are top-tier referees. The performance of FIFA-badged referee Zorbay Küçük and other top-tier referees this season has drawn attention.
Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu announced the names of 152 referees identified as having actively placed bets during a press conference held on Monday. The TFF Legal Consultancy initiated proceedings against these referees and referred them to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board.
ZORBAY KÜÇÜK IS AMONG THE TOP-TIER REFEREES
The most notable names among those referred are FIFA-badged referee Zorbay Küçük and other top-tier referees. In addition to Küçük, the 7 top-tier referees identified as having placed bets include Yunus Dursun, Seyfettin Alper Yılmaz, Muhammed Selim Özbek, Melih Kurt, Mehmet Ali Özer, and Egemen Artun.
According to the report in Sabah newspaper, the matches these referees officiated throughout the season and the decisions they made are as follows:
FIFA-badged referee Zorbay Küçük officiated a total of 9 matches this season. Küçük issued 40 yellow cards and 1 red card, and awarded 3 penalties.
Yunus Dursun officiated 3 matches and issued 15 yellow cards and 1 red card. He also pointed to the penalty spot 3 times.
Seyfettin Alper Yılmaz officiated 4 matches and issued 17 yellow cards. Yılmaz also oversaw a situation where he issued a red card.
