French footballer Kylian Mbappe was seen wearing a mask decorated with the French flag after breaking his nose in a collision with Kevin Danso's shoulder during last week's EURO 2024 match against Austria.
In the later minutes of the match, Mbappe collided head-to-head with Austrian player Danso, clutching his nose as it began to bleed.
The forward, who transferred from PSG to Real Madrid, was forced to leave the pitch with a broken nose.
Mbappe remained on the bench during yesterday's match against the Netherlands. If Mbappe takes the field in the match against Poland on June 25, he will not be permitted to wear the mask he used during training.
This situation is tied to some highly specific UEFA regulations that restrict the types of medical equipment that can be worn during matches.
The rules state that if medical equipment must be worn, it should be a single color.
The rule states, "Medical equipment worn on the field of play must be a single color and must not allow for the identification of the team or the manufacturer."
