EURO 2024 European Football Championship saw our Turkish national football team face Austria in Leipzig, Germany, last night. Our A National Football Team won the match 2-1 with goals scored by Merih Demiral in the 1st and 59th minutes, qualifying for the final eight in Euro 2024.

Following his goal, Demiral celebrated with a 'grey wolf' gesture and later shared a photo taken during that moment on his own social media account.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, in a post on her social media account alongside a news report featuring the photo of Demiral making the 'grey wolf' gesture, stated, "The symbols of Turkish right-wing extremists have no place in our stadiums. Using the European Football Championship as a platform for racism is completely unacceptable. We expect UEFA to investigate the incident and consider sanctions."

UEFA has also launched an investigation into Demiral regarding his goal celebration in the Austria match. According to information provided by diplomatic sources, Germany's Ambassador to Ankara has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the matter.
