Giresunspor, which has been relegated from the TFF 1. Lig, has provided information regarding the injury of Senegalese center-back Faustin Senghor and the subsequent process.

In a statement published on the club's website, it was noted that there were reports in some media outlets directing accusations at the club regarding Faustin Senghor.

The statement explained that Senghor was transferred from FC Shkupi for a transfer fee of 250,000 Euros during the previous administration in the 2022-2023 season, and pointed out that the player did not play in any league matches for Giresunspor this season.

"THROUGH HIS AGENTS..."

Reporting that the player was operated on by the club following two serious injuries he suffered, the statement noted the following:

"Subsequently, his treatment was carried out by our medical team. The player stayed at our club facilities under the same conditions as our other players; there were no disruptions regarding his nutrition, and on the contrary, he was treated with special attention by our facility staff. Although the player earned the right to terminate his contract months ago, he was not asked to leave the facility because his treatment was ongoing, and he continued his treatment and training at our facilities accompanied by our club physiotherapists, despite the rule that foreign players cannot be fielded in the league we will compete in next season."

The statement, which mentioned that after the completion of the league, it was conveyed to the player that the club would provide a flight ticket for him to go to his country and that a certain payment would be made for his travel expenses, included the expression: "However, the player stated that he would not leave without receiving all his dues for the season, and subsequently had news that has no connection to reality served to the press through his agents. We leave the judgment of the matter to the sports public."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

It had been alleged that Giresunspor player Senghor Faustin was going through difficult times at the club, that he "had not received his salary for two years," and that he was eating meals together with university students at the facility because no food was being provided.
