There is great interest in tickets for the European Football Championship (Euro 2024), which will be held in Germany next summer.
German Football Association President Bernd Neuendorf stated in a press briefing that the overall demand for tickets is "extraordinary."
Neuendorf said that there were 2.3 million ticket applications for the final match on July 14 alone. He also noted that there were 1.4 million applications for tickets to the tournament's opening match on June 14.
The German Football Association President stated that ticket applications were not limited to the countries participating in the tournament, with applications coming from a total of 206 countries. Neuendorf said that the highest number of applications came from Croatia, Albania, and Turkey.
German Football Association President Neuendorf also announced that there was significant interest in volunteering for Euro 2024. Neuendorf stated that 145 thousand people had applied for the 16 thousand positions available in this scope.
The second ticket sales phase, which UEFA launched after the Euro 2024 group stage draw, ended on December 12. In this phase, 1 million tickets were offered for sale. Those eligible to purchase these tickets among the millions of applicants will be determined by a lottery to be held next month. Applicants will be notified of the lottery results by January 31 at the latest.
For those wishing to watch Euro 2024 matches from the stands, 1.2 million tickets were also offered for sale last October. Approximately 20 million applications were made for the tickets in the first phase. The winning applicants were again determined by a lottery.
