In the 30th week of the Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe defeated Trabzonspor 3-2. However, the events that occurred after the match were discussed more than the match itself. Following the final whistle, Trabzonspor fans entered the pitch and began running toward the Fenerbahçe players.
Evaluating the events that took place after the match, sports commentator Güntekin Onay noted that society has normalized violence.
Onay stated, "Violence is a sociocultural problem in Turkey. We have problems related to violence on the street, in traffic, on the subway, at school, everywhere. We have problems related to violence against women. Because of absurd TV series that normalize violence, the youth are aspiring to thuggery and psychopathy. That is the truth of the matter. In these series, shooting someone in the head is free, but kissing is forbidden. We live in such a world. Unfortunately, we live in such a country. There is a normalization and encouragement of violence, and a failure to impose the necessary penalties in return. There is news of violence everywhere: on the street, on the subway, on the bus, in traffic. This is also reflected in stadiums. Violence is perceived as if it were very normal, and it continues. We were not such a society; it was considered shameful. Violence was not even inflicted upon animals, cats, or dogs," he said.
