Hakan Balta appointed as Assistant Coach of the National Team
Former national football player Hakan Balta has been appointed as the assistant coach for the A National Football Team, filling the vacancy left by the departure of Selçuk Şahin.

Hakan Balta, who stepped down as the U19 Team Technical Director at the Galatasaray Football Academy, has joined the technical staff of the A National Team. Balta will serve as an assistant to Vincenzo Montella on the crescent-star team.
WHO IS HAKAN BALTA?
He was born on March 23, 1983, in Berlin, the capital of Germany. After playing for the clubs CSV 97, SC Siemensstadt, Reinickendorfer Füchse, and Hertha Berlin, he transferred to Vestel Manisaspor in 2003. He played for this club for 4 years and was part of the team that was promoted to the Süper Lig in the 2004/05 season. The former A National football player, who transferred to Galatasaray in 2007 and played there for 11 years, won 5 Süper Lig titles, 3 Turkish Cups, and 5 TFF Super Cups with the team.
Hakan Balta, who played his first match for the A National Team in a friendly against Azerbaijan on April 12, 2006, wore the crescent-star jersey a total of 50 times. Balta, who took the field in all matches of our legendary A National Team that reached the semi-finals in the 2008 European Championship, also gained experience with our A National Team at EURO 2016.
After playing over 300 matches in the Süper Lig, Hakan Balta ended his active playing career in 2018. Following his football management and coaching training abroad, he served as deputy administrative director in the football branch of Galatasaray Sports Club for two years starting in 2020. Balta, who holds a UEFA Pro License, had been working as the U19 Team Technical Director at the Galatasaray Football Academy since 2022.
