Following the decision, Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek and Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç met with Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Büyükekşi in a meeting to decide whether the Super Cup would be played.

After the meeting, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe decided not to take the field for the match.

The match between the two teams was canceled.
