Harsh words from Nihat Kahveci following Beşiktaş's defeat

In the 2nd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Beşiktaş was defeated 1-0 by Alanyaspor in an away match. Following the game, former footballer and commentator Nihat Kahveci evaluated the performance of the black-and-white team and the referee's decisions on the Kontraspor YouTube channel.

While stating that Beşiktaş's performance remained below expectations, Kahveci reacted to the refereeing team regarding the intervention by Alanyaspor's Aliti on Trossard in the 8th minute of the match. Criticizing the approach of referee Adnan Kayatepe and the VAR to the incident, Kahveci argued that the decisions have been controversial since the beginning of the season.

“If the referee doesn't see a UFC-style slap or a UFC-style blow in football, if the assistant referee doesn't see it, and if VAR doesn't call it, then excuse me, but quit this job! We talk about this every year. The performance of the referees is poor, very poor. This season has had the worst start ever.”

Kahveci also stated that Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı should make a statement regarding the referee's decisions. Expressing that the fans expect a stance from the management regarding this incident, Kahveci used the phrase, "President Serdal, come out and speak."

Emphasizing that the black-and-white team must learn lessons from the defeat, Kahveci also drew attention to squad planning. Stating that Beşiktaş needs reinforcements in the defense, midfield, and forward lines, the commentator remarked, "A center-back, a midfielder, and a right-winger must still come to Beşiktaş. I am saying this now."
