Former national football player Gökhan Zan, who joined the İYİ Party as a parliamentary candidate before the 2023 elections but was not elected, had also been the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) candidate for Hatay Metropolitan Municipality in the 2024 local elections.

Zan, who made headlines during the election process with allegations of financial bargaining, denied these claims, while TİP withdrew his candidacy, citing "various allegations regarding his involvement in relationships that the party would never approve of."

Gökhan Zan, who appeared on the political scene for a short time and was a subject of long-standing discussion, has returned to football. The former national player has signed a 1.5-year contract with İskenderunspor, one of the teams from his hometown of Hatay.

In a statement released by the club, it was stated, "A 1.5-year contract has been signed with our city's son, the esteemed head coach Gökhan Zan. We wish this agreement to be beneficial for our İskenderunspor and our valued coach."

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE CANDIDACY PROCESS?

During Zan's candidacy process, audio recordings alleging that he was bargaining with the AKP for the election had surfaced. Denying the allegations, Zan had filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office.
