UEFA has determined a new qualifying format for the 2028 European Championship. According to the decision made at the executive committee meeting held in Bilbao, Spain, host nations such as England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will also take part in the qualifiers.
The qualifiers will be organized into 12 groups consisting of 4 or 5 teams each. Teams that finish as group leaders and the 8 best runners-up will earn the right to participate directly in the tournament. The remaining 4 teams will be determined among the host nations that did not qualify through the groups but have the best records, and the teams that pass the play-offs.
The tournament will be held between June 9 and July 9, 2028, with the participation of 24 teams.
