Ultra-marathon swimmer Aysu Türkoğlu had already successfully completed the first 4 legs of the Ocean’s Seven series, which consists of the world's 7 most challenging open-water courses. The swimmer has now made history by swimming the fifth leg of the series, the Ka’iwi Channel.
NEW RECORD FROM AYSU TÜRKOĞLU
Aysu entered the water on Sunday, April 27, at 17:30 to cross the 42-kilometer channel, known for its strong currents and large waves between the islands of Moloka’i and O’ahu.
SWAM FOR 21 HOURS
The 23-year-old swimmer's struggle in the sea was captured from a support boat and broadcast live on her social media account.
A FIRST IN TURKISH HISTORY
Swimming in warm, choppy waters amidst jellyfish, Aysu Türkoğlu completed the channel crossing after 21 hours. Emerging onto the shore with a Turkish flag, Türkoğlu celebrated her achievement with great joy.
