Historic victory for Berfu Cengiz at the Ankara Open
Turkish tennis player Berfu Cengiz defeated Teodora Kostovic 2-1 in the Ankara Open final to secure the first WTA 125 title of her career.

Berfu Cengiz has become the singles champion at the Türk Telekom Ankara Open WTA 125 Tennis Tournament. The national tennis player, who took to the court in the final of the event hosted by the Topspin Tennis Academy Bilkent, achieved a significant milestone by defeating her Serbian opponent, Teodora Kostovic.
Berfu Cengiz, who did not start the final match as she had hoped, lost the first set 6-2. Staying in the game in the following section, the national athlete took the second set 6-4 to force a deciding set. Gaining the upper hand in the hard-fought final set, Berfu won the match 2-1 with a score of 7-5.
With this result, Berfu Cengiz secured the first WTA 125 championship of her career. At the award ceremony held on the court after the match, she received her trophy from Türk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Şahin.
Speaking at the ceremony, Berfu Cengiz stated that winning a trophy in Turkey and in Ankara held a special meaning for her. The national tennis player said, "It was my first final at home. I cannot believe I won the trophy. I am very happy to have won my first title, especially here in Turkey, in Ankara."
Before the final, Iranian-born French former professional tennis player Mansour Bahrami also played an exhibition match on the court. Evaluating the organization, Bahrami expressed his satisfaction with the full stands and said that it was a great pleasure to play in front of the Ankara audience.
