Pendikspor manager İbrahim Üzülmez made statements after his team's 4-1 away defeat to Galatasaray in the Süper Lig.
Stating that they played well and the only thing missing for them was a goal, İbrahim Üzülmez said, "We played well. We prepared well against Galatasaray. We said we needed to be aggressive in one-on-one situations. Looking at the first 35 minutes, we did important things. Since the day we arrived, we have built a strong game by working hard and not letting the problems be felt. This makes us happy. In no match have my players fallen behind in terms of play, against Fenerbahçe, Başakşehir, Galatasaray, or Samsunspor. We have become a team that shows resistance. I am proud of that. Of course, we lose, we are sad. As we try to climb up, we cannot win from time to time due to our problems in terms of alternatives and our problems in front of goal. It was 0-0 until the 35th minute; we could have scored and taken the lead. We fell 2-0 behind, it could have been 2-2. We keep going and going but cannot score. When you cannot score, it can be decisive against such an important team and against Barış Alper. I am proud of my players. Whatever we showed our players, they tried to do it on the pitch. We played a very good transition game. The only thing missing for us is the goal, the goals. To put up this much of a fight against an important team with 3-4 players in the front, including those who came on later, is significant. When you cannot score in return for this struggle, we experienced problems defensively. In the end, we lost. We lost a match in which we played well in terms of performance. We did very important things against Galatasaray," he said.
"YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN IT WHEN YOU LOSE"
Expressing that they will fight with all their might to stay in the league, Üzülmez said, "You play well in Samsun, you cannot score, and you lose. Last week, you put up an extraordinary fight against Başakşehir and lose after being reduced to 10 men. You don't let Galatasaray into your penalty area for 35 minutes, and you concede a goal from the slightest simple mistake. You cannot explain it when you lose. I am very proud of both myself and my players. Hopefully, we will continue to fight with resilience in the coming weeks. We will fight with all our might to stay in the league," he said.
