Italy secures ticket to Germany with 1 point against Ukraine

The 10th and final week of the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) qualifiers continued with 7 matches played across 3 groups. Italy, Czechia, and Slovenia managed to secure their spots in the EURO 2024 finals.

Ukraine and Italy faced off in the European Championship qualifiers Group C match. The encounter, played at BayArena, ended 0-0, and Italy secured the right to participate in the European Championship by finishing ahead of Ukraine on the head-to-head record.

With this result, both teams reached 14 points, but Italy, holding the advantage in the head-to-head record, finished the group in second place behind England and secured their ticket to Germany.

Ukraine still has a chance to qualify for EURO 2024 through the play-offs as one of the best third-placed teams.

SLOVENIA QUALIFIES AS GROUP WINNER

Slovenia and Kazakhstan met in the European Championship qualifiers Group H match. Slovenia won the match played at Stozice Stadium 2-1 and grabbed their ticket to EURO 2024.

The goals that brought victory to Slovenia came from Benjamin Sesko via a penalty in the 41st minute and Benjamin Verbic in the 86th minute. Kazakhstan's only goal was scored by Ramazan Orazov in the 48th minute.

Fenerbahçe's Miha Zajc and Alanyaspor's Jure Balkovec did not play in the match for Slovenia.

With this result, Slovenia increased their points to 22, finishing the group as leaders and qualifying for the European Championship. The visiting team, Kazakhstan, remained at 18 points and finished the qualifying stage in fourth place.

CZECHIA SECURES TICKET WITH 3 GOALS

In the final match of the EURO 2024 qualifiers Group E, Czechia faced Moldova.

Czechia won the match played at Andruv Stadion 3-0. The goals that brought victory to the home team were scored by Doudera in the 14th minute, Chory in the 72nd minute, and Soucek in the 90th minute.

Czechia, which secured its ticket to Germany, finished in 2nd place with 15 points. Moldova finished the group with 10 points.

ENGLAND AND NORTH MACEDONIA DRAW

North Macedonia, which had no remaining qualification hopes in Group C, drew 1-1 with visiting England. Enis Bardhi, who plays for Trabzonspor, stayed on the pitch for the full 90 minutes for the home side.

The only goal for the Macedonians in the match came from Enis Bardhi, who followed up on a penalty kick he took in the 42nd minute that was saved by the goalkeeper. The English side equalized in the 59th minute with an own goal by Jani Atanasov.
