Jan Vesely, one of the names who left a mark on European basketball, has announced that he will bid farewell to the sport at the age of 36. In a message posted on the social media platform Instagram, the Czech star stated that he was experiencing emotional moments, saying, "After unforgettable years, it is time to close this chapter of my basketball journey. From Belgrade to Istanbul and Barcelona, I have been honored with countless battles, extraordinary teammates, coaches, the most loyal fans, many victories and heavy defeats, a storm of emotions, and a collection of memories that will stay with me forever."
REACHED THE PINNACLE AT FENERBAHÇE
Throughout his career, Vesely also played for NBA teams such as the Washington Wizards and the Denver Nuggets. After returning to Europe, he was part of the Fenerbahçe Beko squad from 2014 to 2022. Achieving countless successes during his eight years with the yellow-navy team, Vesely led his team to a EuroLeague championship in 2017 and earned the "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) title in the EuroLeague during the 2018-2019 season.
During his time at Fenerbahçe, Vesely was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team three times and holds the record in tournament history with 1,701 two-point field goals.
