Jehezkel's goal celebration sparked reactions: Ahmet Çakar's claim regarding Antalyaspor

In the 20th week of the Süper Lig, Antalyaspor hosted Trabzonspor at home. In the match that ended 1-1, the goal celebration of Antalyaspor's Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkelsparked reactions.

After scoring, Sagiv Jehezkel displayed the date October 7, 2023, when the Israel-Hamas war began, and the Star of David, which were written on the bandage on his arm.

Israeli footballer Sagiv Jehezkel, who was excluded from the squad by Antalyaspor, was detained by Antalya Police Department teams within the scope of an investigation launched by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds that he committed the crime of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."

AHMET ÇAKAR: ANTALYASPOR SHOULD BE DECLARED TO HAVE LOST BY DEFAULT

Former referee and sports commentator Ahmet Çakar also wrote the following in his post, reminding of the TFF Disciplinary Instructions for Antalyaspor:

"Due to the 'severe ideological and genocide-supporting' propaganda carried out by Antalyaspor's Israeli player, Antalyaspor should be declared to have lost by default in accordance with Article 52 of the disciplinary instructions."

WHAT DO THE TFF DISCIPLINARY INSTRUCTIONS SAY?

The instructions regarding Article 42 of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Football Disciplinary Instructions, titled "Discrimination and Ideological Propaganda," and Article 52, titled "Field Incidents," are as follows:

TFF Football Disciplinary Instructions Article 42 – Discrimination and Ideological Propaganda

(1) Engaging in discrimination based on race, language, religion, or ethnic origin, or in any way

damaging human dignity,

(a) Players shall be suspended for 4 to 8 matches,

(b) Club officials shall be subject to a ban from all football-related activities for 45 to 90 days, and for Süper Lig club

officials, a fine ranging from 78,000 TL to 315,000 TL; for 1st League club officials, a fine from 39,000 TL to 156,000 TL; for 2nd League club officials, a fine from 30,000 TL to 60,000 TL; and for 3rd League club officials, a fine from 19,500 TL to 39,000 TL.

(c) Officials and other individuals shall be punished with a ban from entering the locker room and the bench for 4 to 8 matches, or a suspension from their duties for 30 to 60 days.

(2) Clubs whose members and fans commit the act defined in the first paragraph shall also be fined between 195,000 TL and 600,000 TL for the Süper Lig, between 120,000 TL and 300,000 TL for the 1st League, between 60,000 TL and 120,000 TL for the 2nd League, and between 30,000 TL and 60,000 TL for the 3rd League.

(3) Furthermore, depending on the severity of the violation or in the case of recurrence, the club may also be subject to

additional penalties such as playing one or more matches behind closed doors, stadium closure, a forfeit defeat, point deduction, and expulsion.

(4) Engaging in any form of ideological propaganda before, during, or after a match is prohibited. Failure to comply with this prohibition shall result in the application of the penalties specified in this article.

TFF Football Disciplinary Instructions Article 52 – Field Incidents

(1) Individuals who, individually or collectively, violate the rules regarding order or discipline in stadiums, or the normal flow or security of the match,

shall be punished with a ban from matches for one month to two years or a temporary suspension from their duties.

(2) The Disciplinary Committee may, depending on the severity of the incident, impose fines, stadium closures, and matches played behind closed doors collectively on clubs held responsible for incidents caused by their spectators, members, or players, or it may be authorized to impose any one of these penalties on the responsible club.

In addition to the sanctions specified in the second paragraph above, in Süper Lig and 1st League matches where the electronic ticketing system is in use, entry to the match may be prevented by blocking the electronic tickets of spectators who entered the block or blocks where fans involved in pitch incidents were located, depending on the severity and nature of the incidents. The penalty imposed for a match played as the home team under this paragraph shall be executed in matches where the relevant club plays as the home team; the penalty received in a match played as the visiting club shall be executed in matches where the relevant club plays as the visiting club. Penalties received in league matches are executed in league matches, and penalties received in cup matches are executed in cup matches. The card blocking penalty is not applied to disabled spectators who could not have been involved in the pitch incidents.
