In the 5th week of the Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe defeated Kasımpaşa 2-0 with goals from Saint-Maximin and Dusan Tadic, bringing their point total to 13.
After the match, Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho made evaluations to beIN SPORTS.
I DIDN'T LIKE THE SECOND HALF
The Portuguese manager expressed that he did not like the gameplay but was satisfied with the victory.
Mourinho said, "I liked the first half, but I didn't like the second half. We didn't show the same ambition. We made too many technical errors and couldn't control the game as much as we wanted. It was as if my players just wanted to take the 3 points and go home. However, most teams lose points after international breaks. There can be fatigue during these breaks, and we can lose our focus. Therefore, the 3 points are good."
Pointing to the turnovers in the match, Mourinho stated, "We couldn't be consistent in keeping the ball. We didn't create any chances in the second half. I didn't see the ambition to win either. We didn't struggle to control the match, but I was expecting something different. I can accept this performance after a two-week international break."
ON OKAN BURUK AND THE REFEREE
Regarding the allegations that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is close friends with referee Halil Umut Meler, Mourinho replied, "I didn't know my colleague Okan was close friends with this referee. I learned it now that you mentioned it. As long as referees are honest, they can be friends with presidents, managers, and journalists."
'I HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THE DERBY'
Stating that he has not yet thought about the derby match, Mourinho said, "I watched the Galatasaray match yesterday, but I haven't thought about the derby yet. I had nothing to do, I was in bed. But I haven't thought about the derby match yet."
Touching on the quality of his squad, Mourinho said, "I can't give a percentage, but the team can do better. We need to work and improve. Since Friday, we have been able to continue our training with the full squad for the first time. We know our squad now, and the players have no question marks in their minds. We can display a more stable image after the transfer window closes. Everyone will get a chance in European matches. We will play a match every 3 days. This situation is good because we have a quality squad. Our club has built a good squad for me to work with."
