The era of 59-year-old head coach Jürgen Klinsmann has come to an end for the South Korea national team, which was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup.

The South Korea national team has parted ways with head coach Jürgen Klinsmann.
The Korea Football Association announced that the 59-year-old German manager has been dismissed from his post.
Following a managerial career that included stints at Bayern Munich, Germany, the US national team, and Hertha Berlin, he had signed a contract with South Korea in February of last year to run through the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Klinsmann's preference to live in the US rather than South Korea after taking charge of the team had sparked criticism in the country. The South Korean press had criticized Klinsmann with reports stating that, unlike other foreign managers who have led the team, he spent only 67 days in the country during his first 6 months on the job.
South Korea was eliminated from the Asian Cup—which concluded with host nation Qatar winning the championship—after losing 2-0 in the semi-finals to the tournament's surprise team, Jordan.
