TFF 1st League side Kocaelispor has decided to part ways with Mustafa Gürsel following their Sakaryaspor defeat in the league. Immediately after this separation, the Kocaeli team accelerated its search for a new head coach.

Following club president Recep Durul’s statement that “Our new head coach will be determined by tomorrow,” information obtained from club officials suggests that the first choice is Ertuğrul Sağlam, who knows the team and whom a portion of the management did not want to see leave. While it is not yet clear whether Sağlam, who parted ways with the club after the 23rd week, will accept the offer, it was learned that the executives will hold a face-to-face meeting to persuade him. It was also stated that alternative names have been identified in case Ertuğrul Sağlam does not accept.

MUSTAFA GÜRSEL'S RECORD

Mustafa Gürsel, who took office starting with the Ankara Keçiörengücü match in the 24th week after Ertuğrul Sağlam, served as head coach at Kocaelispor for 11 weeks. In 11 matches, Gürsel secured victories in the Göztepe, Giresunspor, and Bandırmaspor games.

TENSIONS HAD OCCURRED WITH SAĞLAM

On the other hand, during a period of unsuccessful matches, tensions had arisen between Ertuğrul Sağlam and the club management after a board member made remarks at a press conference attributing responsibility for transfers to Sağlam, to which Ertuğrul Sağlam responded by saying he could explain all the details if necessary.
