Premier League leaders and title favorites Liverpool have announced that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The 32-year-old player's current contract was set to expire this summer.

In a statement on the club's website, Liverpool announced that an agreement had been reached with the star player for a new contract. While no information was shared regarding the duration of the contract, reports in the British press stated that Salah's new deal is for 2 years.

PLAYED WITH 32 GOALS AND 22 ASSISTS

Having one of the best seasons of his career, Mohamed Salah has recorded 32 goals and 22 assists in the 45 matches he has played this season.

Speaking to the club's website, Salah said, "Of course, I am very excited. We have a great team. We had a great team before, too. I signed a new contract because I think we have a chance to win more trophies and we can enjoy our football. I have spent my best years here."

Salah also added, "I want to tell the fans that I am very, very happy to be here. I signed because I believe we can win many big trophies together. Keep supporting us, we will do our best and I hope we win more trophies in the future."

In their post, Liverpool used the phrase "More to stay than to leave." In a previous interview with the British press, Salah had stated, "I am closer to leaving than staying."
