Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has acquired CD Eldense, a team in Spain's second football division.

In a statement released by the club, it was stated, "CD Eldense is beginning a new era with Messi becoming the club owner."

Founded in 1921, CD Eldense currently sits in 19th place in the league with 5 points. Messi's acquisition of the club marks the latest addition to his investments in Spanish football.

Beyond his playing career, Lionel Messi is also in the spotlight for his club investments.

Messi had also purchased UE Cornella, a team in Spain's fifth division, back in April. The star footballer is also among the shareholders of Inter Miami as part of the special contract he signed with the club in 2023.

Messi's club investments in Spain have come to the fore for the second time with CD Eldense.
