Kevin-Prince Boateng, who ended his football career in recent months, was a guest on the Five Podcast hosted by former footballer Rio Ferdinand.
During the conversation, the star footballer admitted that he told a small lie to be able to transfer to Barcelona.
Stating that he gave incorrect answers to the question of who the best footballer in the world is, Boateng said, "When people asked me who the best player in the world was, I always had to say 'Messi'. That was one of my biggest lies. Because I always like to tell the truth. But I had to lie about this to be able to play at Camp Nou."
Describing his conversation with Messi, Boateng said, "Messi asked me how hard it was to score in Italy. Because Cristiano Ronaldo was there at the time. I told him it was very difficult. Cristiano was scoring in every game in Italy for three years. Messi must have appreciated that," he stated.
The Ghanaian player, who also played for Beşiktaş for a period, appeared in 520 matches in his career. Boateng scored 76 goals and provided 56 assists in these matches.
