Liverpool announces opposition to European Super League
Liverpool, the English Premier League side that was among the clubs to launch the European Super League initiative and subsequently withdrew following backlash, has announced that their stance remains unchanged following the European Court of Justice's ruling.

In a statement, the English club said, "The European Court of Justice's ruling yesterday does not change Liverpool's previous stance on the European Super League. Our involvement has been discontinued. We will continue to work with clubs through the European Club Association (ECA) and participate in UEFA competitions."
The European Super League initiative was launched on April 19, 2021, by Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham from England; Milan, Inter, and Juventus from Italy; and Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Real Madrid from Spain.
Following harsh reactions from FIFA, UEFA, and the sports community, 9 clubs, excluding Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus, announced their withdrawal from the organization. UEFA and FIFA had warned the 3 teams that did not leave the formation that they could face sanctions, such as being expelled from their affiliated organizations and national leagues, and being prohibited from sending players to international matches. Following these events, the matter was taken to the European Court of Justice.
