Başakşehir has announced that Mahmut Tekdemir, whose contract has expired, is leaving the team.

Başakşehir has parted ways with Mahmut Tekdemir, who has worn the team's jersey since 2004. 

The statement made by Başakşehir under the title "Thank You Captain" is as follows:

"The contract of Mahmut Tekdemir, who joined our youth academy in the 2004-2005 season and became one of the most important parts of our family, has expired.

Mahmut Tekdemir, who played more than 500 matches for our club, including 36 in European Cups, wore the jersey of our National Team many times, was an exemplary professional both on and off the pitch, and became an important figure in both our club and Turkish football with his sense of belonging and loyalty, has been one of the most valuable cornerstones of the Başakşehir family.

With his consistency, he wrote his name among the most important players in the history of Turkish football, and as team captain, he was one of the key contributors to our precious success by scoring our championship goal in our historic 2019-2020 season.

We thank Mahmut Tekdemir, who grew up with our club and became our legend, for his efforts to date, and we wish him success in the remainder of his career."
