Maruf Güneş: The allegations absolutely do not reflect the truth

Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Deputy Chairman Maruf Güneş released a statement regarding the matter on his social media account.

Güneş used the following expressions in his statement:

"On 17.07.2026, a detention order was issued against me within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; my statement was taken, and I was released on 20.07.2026 with judicial control measures applied. First and foremost, I would like the public to know that the allegations made against me on various platforms, especially on social media, throughout my detention process absolutely do not reflect the truth. Despite this, it is unacceptable that facts are being distorted to create a completely different perception of me in the public eye.

It has deeply saddened me that my name is mentioned in such an investigation and that the Galatasaray Sports Club, of which I am honored to be a member, is being targeted through this. Throughout my life, I have never engaged in any behavior that would cause my family, my colleagues, or my community to hang their heads in shame. Today, I state this with the same peace of conscience.

My trust in the Turkish justice system is absolute. I believe that at the end of the investigation, all the facts will emerge and the unfair perception being created in the public eye will be completely eliminated.

On the other hand, I would also like to inform the public that I will exercise all my legal rights to the fullest extent against those who target me, my family, and the Galatasaray Sports Club with allegations that have no connection to the truth by presenting matters that are not in the file as if they were. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our esteemed President, our board members, my colleagues, and the great Galatasaray community who have stood by me and have not withheld their support and trust during this process."
